McKEESPORT, PA (July 2, 2007) - Every month, MYCS honors an outstanding staff member whose hard work has made a difference in the community.
The MYCS Star Award program allows staff members to nominate a fellow staff member whom they think has made an outstanding contribution in some way.
“It’s a way to recognize staff who go above and beyond on a daily basis,” says Doreen Eisaman, human resource manager. “We too often don’t stop to say thank you to someone who does exceptional work.”
January’s winner Eileen Riegner, MYCS Service Coordination outreach nurse, is recognized for her exemplary teamwork. She continuously assists her coworkers and has exceptional conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
“She always finds a way to assure that all consumers are given care when staff is short,” says her nominator. “She unselfishly visits consumers and helps new staff learn their way around the community and shape new relationships with consumers and others in the community.”
Eileen’s strength and cheerfulness has inspired other staff members to be enthusiastic when times are tough. “She willingly shares her knowledge with the team and helps promote a positive team spirit,” her nominator says. “She’s been a pillar to the community through months of change. We appreciate her positive attitude.”
February’s winner Yvonne Beck, MYCS Outpatient Department clerk, is recognized for her dedication to quality and commitment to excellence through continuous improvement, learning, and growth.
“Yvonne is my go-to-gal,” says her nominator. “It’s difficult to cite specific examples of her quality work since she consistently performs at such a high level.”
Yvonne has mastered the art of navigating the scheduling system. She’s done an outstanding job of balancing client records and constantly works in tandem with the community therapist to meet best-practice conditions for scheduling.
“She does this exasperating work with a smile,” her nominator says. “If someone does exemplary work but constantly complains about it, the quality is diminished because coworkers try to avoid a complainer. But Yvonne’s resilience and humor have the opposite effect.”
Both Eileen and Yvonne were rewarded with $50 gifts and were honored at the annual Star Luncheon for their contributions to the community.
